I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas
and a Happy New Year! As we begin the New Year, don’t forget to mark
your calendars with the important Junior Grange dates.
June 29th – July 5th is
State Junior Grange camp, “A Sporting Good Time”. It will again be held
at Camp Sylvan Hills near Howard, Pennsylvania. This is a time when the
Juniors have a chance to form lifelong friendships with other Junior
Grangers from around the state. The week is always filled with many
workshops, activities, and a lot of fun! Watch for more information in
upcoming advocates.
July 17th – July 20th is the
Fifth Annual Family Festival held at the Grange fairgrounds in Centre
Hall, Pennsylvania. There are activities for everyone including Junior
Grangers. Please make an attempt to come this year!
October 18th – October 21st
is the Annual State Session at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Junior
Jamboree is held this weekend. During the jamboree, the Juniors have a
chance to again meet other Juniors from around the state. The jamboree
is always filled with many activities and is a great time to enjoy the
company of fellow Junior Grangers. Why not consider coming this year?
Even though State Session
may seem distant in time, it’s never too early to begin working on those
State contest entries! There were a large number of entries this past
year, but there are some contests that I would like you to consider.
Do you enjoy working with
computers? If so, consider entering the PowerPoint presentation contest.
Perhaps you even have a project from school you could enter. The
presentation only needs to be 5-8 minutes long about any topic. We would
love to see more entries in this contest!
Do you like to write? There
is a creative writing contest you may enter, “What is your favorite food
and why?” As long as the writing is less than five pages, you may write
to your heart’s content!
Do you know anything about
this year’s Host County, Lancaster? Whether you do or not, you could
write a report or make a craft about what you know or what you learn
from a little research.
There are still 9 months
remaining until State Session, so why not consider starting to work on
some contest entries? There is a little something for everyone’s talents
– just check out the “Guide to Contests and Programs”. If you do not
have a copy at home, you can find it on the PA Grange website,
www.pagrange.org.
Well I hope you all will
have a year filled with many blessings! Don’t forget to mark your
calendars with the upcoming events. We would love to see you!
