We who are basket lovers say you can never
have too many BASKETS.
Well the same holds true with the Grange. You
can never have too many GRANGERS.
So we need to get out there and "sell the Grange." Invite the local 4-H
and FFA members to your meetings.
I am willing to come to your Open Houses and other Grange events and
functions to talk to your members and guests and promote the Youth. All
of my committee members, our Youth Ambassadors and our Young Couple
would love to be invited to your Grange functions to promote the Youth
and the Grange.
You have to open your Grange hall to the public and invite non-Grange
members of your community to attend meetings and other functions. Allow
other organizations to use your Grange hall for meetings (especially
organizations geared to Youth such as the 4-H, FFA, Cub Scouts, Boy
Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, etc.).
Then you have to tell these people about the Grange and what your Grange
does for your members and for the community. Do things "outside the
basket."
Then you have to "Ask them to Join!"
The Regional Meetings schedule for 2008 is on the page to the left (page
4). Let's have an outstanding attendance at these meetings. Youth - I
challenge you to at least attend the one in your area...more if you can.
If you want me to be there to do something with the Youth just set it
up, let me know, and I will be there. (We need to let Betsy know if we
plan to present something at a Regional Meeting).
Right after the Regional Meetings, April - Grange Month - rolls around.
Consider having some of our Youth at your Grange Month functions as
well.
Grange Youth - don't forget to fill out the reservation form to the
right for the upcoming Young Marrieds/Young Adults Weekend in State
College, March 14, 15 & 16, 2008. We have some great workshops scheduled
and it's a good time to relax and fellowship with other Grange Young
Marrieds/Young Adults. We need young Grange couples to compete for the
new Young Couple for 2008-2009 (You must be 21 to attend and sorry, but
no children).
In the past one of the main uses of baskets was to gather things like
vegetables from the garden, eggs from the hen house, items at the
market...it is time now for all of us to gather and weave a strong
organization.
So let's get out there and SELL!
