Several
hundred dairy producers, industry and agribusiness
representatives gathered at the Lancaster Host for
the Pennsylvania Dairy Summit's Award banquet
recently to recognize the Pennsylvania Dairy
Stakeholders and Pennsylvania Dairymen Association's
annual award winners.
Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association executive
director, David Smith said, the winners "have gone
outside their normal bounds by providing service and
leadership in many capacities."
Earning
the cow within a heart pendant was our own Dina Zug
as the Distinguished Woman of the Year. Dina and her
family operate Zugstead Farm in Mifflintown. The
farm is home to 280 cows and includes 750 acres of
farmland.
Dina is
a strong supporter of the local 4-H and FFA
programs, helping to found the Juniata County Dairy
Beef Club. Her agriculture activities include the
Grange, American Dairy Association and Dairy Council
regional promotion board, Juniata County Extension
Board, and secretary of the PDMP. She is a former
Pennsylvania State Grange State Secretary and Youth
