Grange Timber Program
Do you own 3 acres or more of
woodland? Are you thinking about selling and harvesting your
timber? Has a "timber buyer" approached you or made an offer
to purchase your timber? And, do you care about applying
good management practices to your woodlands resources? If
you answered "yes" to any of these questions, the Grange
Timber Management & Marketing Program can help you!
The Grange has partnered with
six qualified professional forestry consultants to offer
membership a variety of professional forestry services,
including Forest Management Plans and Timer Sale Preparation
and Administration. Your ownership objectives and additional
services available can be discussed with the consultant.
Applicable fees for services to be rendered will also be
discussed at the initial woodland examination and
consultation meeting.
If you own marketable timber,
most likely you have been approached by a timber buyer.
These buyers go by many different titles. Many may indeed
make good impressions and tell you what you like to hear.
But, do not be fooled! These buyers are professionals. They
work for someone else, not you! Their job is to buy your
biggest and best timber at the most economical price
possible. And, if you sell your timber below market value,
don't blame them! They are practicing good business;
however, their good business deal could mean big losses to
you in terms of timber value income, the overall condition
of your property and the future productivity and value of
your woodland's resources.
If you are thinking about selling some timber, or if you are
interested in discussing the best management or harvesting
options for your woodlands, contact the Grange Service Corp.
today. This program and the consultants work for you. There
is no conflict of interest. Each consultant will be glad to
meet with you, discuss your ownership interests and provide
you with an informative woodland evaluation. Usually, there
is no fee for your initial consultation. Or a minimal charge
may be required. Ask the consultant.
Take the first step to getting the most from your woodland's
resources. Call the Grange Service Corp. at 800-292-4060 and
a consultant will contact you.
