Greetings from
Yardley, PA.
I need to put out a “READ ALERT!!!” (No this is not a
mistake.) Anyone who attended State Session in Williamsport and
happened to pick up their entries from the Lecturer's department
could you please check to see if you accidentally picked up the
short story written by Anna Freehling. We think that it was mixed up
in between entries. If anyone happens to find it among their papers
could you please mail it to me at my address listed above so that I
may return it to Anna? This would be deeply appreciated.
I am still recovering from my injuries
that kept me from attending State Session and unfortunately things
are taking their sweet time to mend. Bah Humbug! I want to thank
everyone for the wonderful cards, letters and phone calls that I
received during my convalescing. The huge get well card that
everyone signed at State Session is so big that each time I look at
it I notice a new name and the flowers that my committee sent me
were gorgeous. They sure brightened my days. How can I thank
everyone enough for all of their thoughtfulness?
As I write this article I am sure that
many Grange members all over the country are preparing for their
trip to National Grange in Reno. I sure do wish that I was able to
attend but there is no chance of me making the trip this year (darn
I had hopes of visiting the “Ponderosa Ranch” and meeting Little
Joe, Hoss, Adam and Ben Cartwright). Hopefully everything will go
better next year!
Congratulations to our 2007 PA State Grange Best in Show Talent
Winner, Miss Jennifer Nauss, from Valley Grange #1360 in York County
and thank you for representing our wonderful Commonwealth at the
“Evening of Excellence Talent Performance” at National Grange in
November. Also congratulations’ to Donald Kauffmann from Ontelaunee
Grange #1617 in Berks County, whose craft entry was one of the few
chosen to be displayed at National this year. BRAVO TO BOTH OF YOU!
Well it is that time of year again.
Gobbler time that is! As we prepare ourselves for Thanksgiving do we
actually think about what Thanksgiving means to us? This is the time
of year, when we are reminded to give thanks. Instead of waiting
until next year to be reminded, let’s make every day one of
Thanksgiving! After all, each day is a unique gift…So, give a hug
for no reason; Say "I love you"-just because; Share a smile with a
stranger; Take time and count your blessings; Don’t take anything or
anyone for granted; End each day with no regrets (author unknown.)
As we push ourselves away from the
Thanksgiving table and settle down in our favorite chair to watch
“the game,” read a book or simply to just sit and talk with family
and friends, we remind ourselves to go back on our diets the next
morning so that we may prepare ourselves for another feast just one
month away served on Christmas Day! Ho-Ho-Ho! Has anyone finished
their shopping yet? Is anyone planning to go on vacation or are you
planning to stay home with family and friends? Either way make these
holidays one to remember and keep them safe.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a
Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!
Fraternally
Sharon
PS: Interested in
holiday games? Try having a gobbling contest or turkey drawing
contest. Whoever sounds more like a turkey or sketches the best
turkey wins a prize. Remember the “Christmas Wrap” game? Pair up
with a partner and each one must hold one hand behind their back
while trying to wrap a box in Christmas paper (complete with
ribbon.) This game is a hoot!
I would like to congratulate everyone on their contest entries and
for sharing their talent with everyone. It gives me great pleasure
to list all of our winners:
