Leadership Tip-Archives

March, 2003 - Visit

As a leader, take the time to visit other Granges and, if you have the opportunity, other organizations. Use your visit as a chance to learn what others are doing. Look for good ideas, regardless of their success in another Grange. You may be able to modify that idea to work in your Grange.

Look at how their leadership works while you visit. How are they building a team? Are they involving everyone? Learn by observing their actions in order to improve your leadership skills. You may even see a poor leadership trait you recognize and decide to improve it in yourself.

Share a positive aspect about your Grange, either formally or informally, with the members that you visit with. Look for the positives in your Grange and make sure to impart them to others. Building a positive attitude takes practice and your visit is a good way to practice outside your Grange.

Visit other Granges and organizations and take home new ideas, leadership skills, and a better attitude.
