Build Trust

One of the greatest assets any leader has is the trust of their followers. As a Grange leader you must work to build, or earn, the trust of your fellow members in order to be successful. To build trust in your Grange you must set the example.

You must operate on the highest ethical level. If you make a promise, carry it out. If you offer someone an opportunity, let them have it. While mistakes are expected, you cannot be caught in a lie, or attempt to misdirect any of your members. Failure to be ethical will destroy trust in your leadership.

You must listen to your members. When they know that their comments and suggestions will be welcomed and given serious consideration, they will trust your leadership. Ask what they think and listen to what they say. Make sure that their concerns are dealt with in a positive fashion.
