Do you ever wonder why your Grange
doesn’t try new things? Do you ever think about how you can get them to do
something new and different? If so, it is up to you to step out of your
own comfort zone. As the leader you need to be the first to show that
stepping out of a comfort zone is a positive experience.
Comfort zones are powerful inhibitors for
most people. They like to stay with what they know and understand. They
like things to be stable and predictable. Comfort zones keep you from
trying new things and meeting new people. The great thing about comfort
zones is that they expand and change easily once you take the first step.
Remember the first day on the new job? It was uncomfortable and maybe even
a little scary. A week later the job was becoming routine and normal.
Trying something you haven’t done is a
good way to show your members that you can expand your comfort zone.
Approach change as a positive experience or adventure. When you show your
members that you can step out of your comfort zone, it becomes easier for
them to follow your example.
Step out of your comfort zone and give
your Grange members confidence to do the same!
