If you want to be an effective leader in your Grange, you must step back
occasionally and take a hard look at things. Just as when you’re deep in a
forest you may only be able to see trees, when you are deeply involved in
your Grange activities you may not be able to see if you are moving toward
your vision.
It is a leader’s responsibility to see that the Grange teams are working
on goals that move the Grange toward their Vision. If a team or member
gets sidetracked, you must guide them back to the goal. Guiding and
teaching is the best method to get teams back on track. Members can become
so involved with what they are doing that they don’t understand the “big
picture.”
Stepping back is nothing more than taking time out of your day to evaluate
your goals, plans, and activities. Comparing where you are and are going,
to where you want to be is the point of this evaluation. If all is well
you can look for ways to improve progress, it not, you can search for ways
to get back on track.
Take a little time and step back from your activities and become a better
leader in your Grange!
