Does it seem like you are the only one who can get the
job done? Then it’s time to focus on your team building skills as a Grange
leader. After you have identified as many skills that would be helpful in
accomplishing the task, and you have recruited a team, it is time to give
your team freedom.
Communicate clearly to the team what they are responsible for
accomplishing. Make sure that they understand you will assist them, but
how they accomplish their goal is their decision. This is one of the
hardest things to do as a leader. Give the team freedom to create their
own roadmap to success.
Be sure to have the team leader (chairman) understand that the team will
be deciding things. Teams work when each member contributes to the plan
and each member knows that their ideas will be considered and may be
incorporated into the team plan. Team leaders guide and facilitate, but do
not dictate.
Take the next step in team building and become a better leader in your
Grange!
