Make time spent worthwhile
|
by Ed Luttrell Do you want to lead a Grange that is dynamic and exciting to be a member of? The first step is to improve the attitude toward what your Grange does. You must make sure that everyone understands that their donation of time is worthwhile. Worthwhile is more than just important. It consists of three elements. First, each member has to know that the things they do are important to people. No matter what the task, it makes life better for their fellow members or for people outside the Grange. Second, every member must understand and share the goals of the Grange. Third, values must guide all activities, plans and decisions that are made. This may seem simple, but implementing it is often difficult because you as the leader have to educate your fellow members that everything they do is worthwhile. You may even have to change your style of leadership to get the message across. A Grange that has a membership that knows they are spending their time in a worthwhile fashion is far more active and dynamic. Make each member see that their time is spent in a worthwhile manner and you will become a better leader in your Grange!
