Successfully recruiting new members isn’t about numbers.
It is all about the person. If you want to bring in members regularly
throughout the year, you must focus on the person you want to join. Focusing
on a person means that you will get to know them and look for ways to share
how the Grange will benefit them.
Focusing on the person means that you must learn about
them. You must ask questions that will tell you what they think is important
in your community and their life. Finding out what their interests are is
critical because we should be sharing how the Grange can fill their needs.
We are all looking for something different and that requires you to focus on
finding out what the prospective member is looking for.
Focusing on the person also means that we must learn who
the person is. Are they the kind of person who primarily desires to be
surrounded by friends? Or, are they the kind that gets their personal
satisfaction from accomplishing a task? We must learn what they want as an
individual and then share how the Grange will fill that need for them.
Focus on the potential members in your community and you will find it is
easier to attract new members in your Grange.
