The PA Grange Youth named their 2004-2005 Male and Female Youth Ambassadors this past weekend at their annual PA Grange Youth Camp held at Camp Sylvan Hills in Howard, PA.
Miranda Hollabaugh of Tidioute, PA was named as Female Youth Ambassador. Miranda is a member of Watson Grange #1068 in Warren County. She is a Junior at Clarion University majoring in Business Management. She has held numerous offices in the Junior Grange and would like to see more “family days” for Grange members and non-members to help more people become involved in the Grange and their community. Miranda wants to graduate with a B.A. in Business Management and eventually manage a business or start her own hotel chain.
Andrew Kieffer of Bethel, PA was named as Male Youth Ambassador. Andrew is a member of Marion Grange #1853, Berks County and presently holds the office of Steward there. He is a sophomore at Elizabethtown College where he is majoring in Chemistry. He feels that the Grange should promote itself through sponsorship of major events throughout the state. Andrew hopes that, as a chemist, he can have a positive impact on agriculture and eventually he would like to take over his family farm.
The Alternate Female Youth Ambassador is Catherine Carberry of James Creek, PA. Catherine is a member of Lincoln Grange #914 in Huntingdon County.
The Alternate Male Youth Ambassador is Philip Vonada of Spring Mills, PA. Philip is a member of Penns Valley Grange #158 in Centre County.
Other members of this year’s court are: Jennifer Kramer, Hamburg; Brittany Schaeffer, Mertztown; Gwen Switzer, Womelsdorf; Bryan VanTassel, New Castle; Brandon Van Tassel, New Castle, and; Dwayne Switzer, Womelsdorf.
The PA Grange Youth Ambassadors represent the Grange Youth throughout the year at various functions including the PA State Farm Show, Ag Progress Days, and PA State Grange Session as well as at the National Grange Conference to be held this year in Rochester, N.Y.
The Grange is a family fraternal organization dedicated to the betterment of rural America through community service, education, legislation and fellowship. It is the oldest agricultural organization of its kind in the United States.
