(Berks County, PA) – The 38th Annual Berks County Grange Auction scheduled for Saturday, August 26th at Leesport Farmer’s Market, Route 61, Leesport will be an unbelievable sight.  The expanse of goods for sale spreads over a nine acre field and under 48,000 sq. ft of pole buildings.  Experienced and amateur buyers alike are both overwhelmed and delighted at the smorgasbord of merchandise.  Items for sale range from large to small, usual to unusual, practical to impractical, new to antique.  The volunteer efforts of 18 auctioneers, with seven auctioneers selling simultaneously, are required to complete the sale in just one day.

 

400 consignors and 1500 buyers are expected for this year’s auction. 

 

The sale begins at 8:30 in the household section and continues throughout the day.  The sale of Lawn & Garden items start at 9:00am, Tools & Farm Goods at 10:30am, Farm Tractors at 11:30am, Nursery Stock at 12:30pm and Farm Equipment at 1:30pm.  

 

Buyer numbers will be available beginning at 7am in the main banquet facility.  A valid driver’s license is necessary to register for a number.  Cash and checks from within the state will be accepted.  Out-of-state checks must be accompanied by a bank letter.  Payment of all purchases is due the day of the sale.

 

Consignment of Household and Lawn & Garden items will be accepted Thursday, August 24 and Friday, August 25 from Noon-8 pm.  Sellers can consign farm equipment and machinery on Thursday, August 24 from Noon-8 pm and Friday, August 25 from 8 am-8 pm.  No items will be accepted the day of the sale.  Commission structure will be provided upon consignment registration.

 

Commissions retained by the Berks County Grange are used as an operating budget to fund various community needs and appeals.

 

The auction is held rain or shine.  Concessions will be available.
