LANCASTER - An instrumental group from Fleetwood Grange #1839, Berks County won "Best of Show" this past weekend in the annual PA State Grange Session Talent Contest.
 
Kurtis Rohrbach on fiddle, Kelly Rohrbach on mandelin, Dennis Bauscher on banjo and Ben Rohrbach on guitar, played three tunes during the contest held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Lancaster Resort Hotel and Convention Center.  The contest included "Instrumental," "Vocal," and "Variety" acts of all ages.  Hannah Darmofal from Kutztown Grange #1836 in Berks County was awarded the Best of Show in the Junior category.
 
The Talent Contest is one of the highlights of the Annual PA State Grange Session every year.  Nearly 300 people packed the Showroom at the Host Resort to enjoy the talents of Grange members from around the Commonwealth.  This year saw 11 different acts in the Junior (14 and under) category and 8 in the adult division.
 
By winning "Best of Show," in Pennsylvania, Kurtis, Kelly, Dennis and Ben earned the opportunity to perform at the "Evening of Excellence" at next month's National Grange Convention in Cromwell, Connecticut on Friday, November 14, 2008 before Grange members and guests from around the country. 
 
Another group of Berks County Grangers took the Runner-Up spot with their comedy routine:  Dawn Dietrich, Michelle Lengel, Dorothy Miller and Brenda Lengel, all from Virginville Grange #1832.
