Cromwell, CT - Betsy Huber, PA State Grange President, was re-elected to the National Grange Executive Committee/Board of Directors at the National Grange Convention in Cromwell, Connecticut last week.
 

 
The National Grange, Patrons of Husbandry, held its annual convention from November 11-15 in Cromwell.  The 142nd National Grange Convention was officially opened Tuesday morning at the Crown Plaza Hotel by National Grange President Ed Luttrell.  The convention concluded Saturday, November 15 with the annual Grange Celebration Banquet.
 
Pennsylvania State Grange Pres. Betsy Huber and Montana State Grange Pres. Marty Billquist were both re-elected to their second two-year terms on the National Grange Executive Committee.  During the reorganization meeting of the Committee, the members also re-elected Huber as their Chairman of the Board.    In 2006 Huber was elected as the first-ever female Chairman.  The duty of the Executive Committee of the National Grange is "to exercise general supervision of the affairs of the Order...which shall include those acts pertaining to the execution of the laws, rules, regulations, and policy established by the delegates of the National Grange."  The National Grange is headquartered at 1616 H Street NW in Washington, D.C.  and the PA State Grange offices are located at 20 Erford Road, Suite 216, Lemoyne, PA. 
 

Betsy Huber was born and raised on a dairy farm in Chester County, Pennsylvania.  She graduated from West Chester High School and attended Millersville and Lincoln Universities.  She lives in Lincoln University, Chester County with her cat Riley.

 

In October 2002 she was elected Master (President) of the Pennsylvania State Grange, the first woman to hold that position.  Previously she served six years as Overseer (Vice President) and held many other offices on the state, county, and local levels of the Grange.  She was recently re-elected to her fourth term as PA State Grange President at their recent annual session in October.

 

From 1992 to 2002 Mrs. Huber was Legislative Assistant to State Representative Arthur D. Hershey (R-13) in his district office.  Prior to that she was employed by Lincoln University for three years and by the National Grange for seven years as secretary to the Women’s Activities Department.

 

She is serving her third term as a Supervisor of Upper Oxford Township, Chester County, and serves as Treasurer of the Chester County Association of Township Officials.  Other board memberships include PA Farmlink, Ag Air Quality Task Force, Fertilizer Advisory Committee, The Pennsylvania State University Board of Trustees, and the PA DEP Ag Advisory Committee.

 

Mrs. Huber has represented the Pennsylvania State Grange on the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School Board of Overseers since November 2002.

 

She was married to the late Henry T. Huber for 39 years.  She is the mother of three children and grandmother of eight.

 

The Grange is a family fraternal organization dedicated to the betterment of the American quality of life through community service, education, legislation and fellowship.  The Grange includes members of all ages from their Junior Grange (ages 5-14), Youth Members (ages 14-23), Young Adults (ages 21-35) and Regular Community (local) members (age 14 and up).  The Grange represents approximately 15,000 Pennsylvanians across the Commonwealth.  It is the oldest agricultural and rural advocacy organization of its kind in the United States.  The National Grange (Patrons of Husbandry), representing about 300,000 members, began in 1867 and the PA State Grange was chartered in 1873.
