Delegates of State Granges from across the country elected
Ed Luttrell of Sandy, Oregon, as their 22nd President of the
National Grange on Thursday, November 15th at the National
Grange Convention held in Reno, Nevada.
Luttrell, a second generation Granger, was the Leadership/Membership Development Director for the National Grange. Ed has extensive Grange experience including Oregon State Master from 1996-2000. His Grange accomplishments started in 1978, when he was named Oregon State Outstanding Young Granger. He served on the Oregon State Membership Committee from 1986 to 1988 and was Oregon State Grange Gatekeeper form 1988 to 1992. He and his wife of 26 years, Celia, were Oregon State Outstanding Young Couple in 1989. Ed served as state Youth Director from 1990 to 1992 and editor of the Oregon Grange Bulletin from 1992 to 1996. Currently Ed is Oregon State Grange Foundation President. Ed grew up on a small farm and has worked in agriculture, automotive, services and publishing. He and Celia have three grown children, Ben, Jacob and Charlotte. They are members of Boring-Damascus Grange #260. Ed’s vision for the Leadership/Membership department was to place practical, results-orientated tools in the hands of local Granges that woul enable them to realize growth through action. As National Master, Luttrell stated, "My role is to strengthen the relationship between National Grange and the various State Granges so that we can insure the growth of all of our Community Granges. I hope to constantly improve how National Grange can provide services to our members at the local level."
The Grange is a family fraternal organization dedicated
to the betterment of the American quality of life
through community service, education, legislation and

the Commonwealth. It is the oldest agricultural and
rural advocacy organization of its kind in the United
States. The National Grange (Patrons of Husbandry),
representing about 150,000 members, began in 1867 and
