The PA Milk Marketing Board issued a general order today supporting the stance of the PA State Grange on the over-order premium.

On December 3, 2003, the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board convened a hearing for all milk marketing areas to receive testimony and evidence concerning the level and duration of the over-order premium. At that hearing, Charles Seidel, a dairy farmer from Berks County, testified on behalf of the Pennsylvania State Grange and recommended that the Board set the over-order premium at $1.65 per hundredweight.

In its general order, the PA Milk Marketing Board stated “In all milk marketing areas the calculation of the Class I price for milk produced, processed, and sold in Pennsylvania shall include an over-order premium of $1.64 per hundredweight effective 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 2004, through midnight on June 30, 2004.”
