Newsletter Publications of the Pennsylvania State Grange
One of the methods utilized by the PA State Grange since at least the early 20th century to communicate with its membership has been the publication of regular newsletters. The publications listed below which exist in paper form have been microfilmed/converted to PDF format. It is not known if these preserved publications represent all those issued by the State Grange since its founding.
SPECIAL NOTE - The 1949 History of the Pennsylvania State Grange written by Fred Brenckman references the Farmers' Friend and Grange Advocate, first published in 1874 by State Grange Secretary Robert H. Thomas and continuing as the "official organ of the State Grange for a full generation". This was reported to be a weekly paper in the interests of the Grange but with the stipulation that the Grange should not be responsible for any of the costs except as members might subscribe for it individually. Unfortunately, the State Grange does not have any copies of the Farmers' Friend and Grange Advocate.
